Ologafe North America Coordinator’s Address

Brief History about Ologafe North America Chapter:

On a beautiful day in October of 2016, I got a call from my cousin Ladian Shodipo. I had not seen her in 30 years! We reconnected, and she introduced me to the OLOGAFE family. A few months later, I had a wedding celebration for my daughter in Nigeria: The OLOGAFE family graced the occasion in droves. That sealed it for me. I became hooked on anything and everything OLOGAFE.
A couple of months later, I got a call from the then-president, Prof AKINSOLA. She wanted me to start the North American Chapter. Of course, I said No! To start, America is huge, and I don’t know any Ladian in America. She then reiterated that it was not her idea but the idea of those who made her the global President. She gave me a couple of names and phone numbers Funmilayo Oluyinka, Bunmi Ajibade, Yinka Ajanaku, and Bunmi Kumapayi with these incredible women, the North American Forum was born.
In 2018, Bunmi Kumapayi suggested we have a reunion Atlanta GA was suggested because of Ladian Dupe Onabanjo who I was informed has an unparalleled love for OLOGAFE . So we went. Ladian Onabanjo, Ladian Bose Oshinubi, and Shola Shoneye gave a weekend to remember.
We planned another one for Houston in 2020, but Covid took over the whole World and we had to postpone for two years. It was worth the wait because in August of 2022, we had a never-to-be-forgotten Reunion in Houston in which our President, Dr Akinluyi, was our guest. The best one yet was held in MN last year.

Those who were there will agree. Over the years, we in North America have supported our global projects, be it the e Library, the fencing project, the roofing of the School hall, and paying our annual dues. What drives us is the fact that we are blessed to live here in America, and we want to be a blessing to others. For such a time like this, Esther chapter 4, we are encouraged by the sacrifices of our teachers, especially the Revd sisters who gave up the comfort of their homes to come to shape the lives of girls in Famia Road. We give God the glory because they didn’t work in vain. Their investment has paid off.

By the Grace of God, we have been impactful. We revamped the Science Laboratory. We contribute annual dues of $100, and when we have special projects, we tax ourselves. We are currently working on our nonprofit so we can have a bigger impact on our Alma mater.

Long live OLOGAFE
